Build-A-Bear Workshop, a global franchise with more than 400 stores, wanted to think outside the fur-and-stuffing box and engage kids in new ways. Could something be developed that hooked them before they came to the store, engaged them while in the workshop, and occupied them for weeks and months later at home? To find the answer, Black Mercury performed first-person research and created a series of high-fidelity conceptual prototypes that could be tested, and which allowed product management to make quick decisions. Because we’re small and focused, all this was accomplished in days.
