We transformed a technical proof of concept into an award-winning consumer product in under 8 months.
Skiff, a division of Hearst Publishing that operated in secret for years before its product unveiling at CES, needed to create a splash with their large format digital publication reader. At the start, they needed a nimble yet stealthy agency with deep knowledge of cross-platform UX to design the end-to-end experience, and Black Mercury was tapped for the role from a field of big agencies. We evolved the Skiff user interface design from a technical proof of concept into a rich, engaging experience that was deeply integrated with their hardware design, yet sensitive to the constraints of other mobile platforms. Skiff was awarded “Most Innovative Product” at its CES launch.
